YEREVAN, May 20. /ARKA/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will attend the Riga Summit, Novosti-Armenia reported Wednesday referring to Vahram Baghdasaryan, head of the faction of the Republican Party of Armenia at the National Assembly.
«All the details of this visit will become known after the party's executive board members gather today,» Baghdasaryan said. «These issues have not been discussed yet, it has only been decided that the president will attend the summit.»
In his words, such summits show that Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union doesn't mean that the country's relations with the European Union will be terminated.
«We are ready for any economic cooperation that will inflict no damage to our existing agreements,» he said.
The Riga Summit will be held on May 21 and 22 as part of the European Union's Eastern Partnership Program, which includes Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus.
Earlier, Shavarsh Kocharyan, deputy foreign minister, said that Armenia and the European Union intend to sign a cooperation agreement at this summit. ----0----
