YEREVAN, March 7. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the resignation of Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan, who is a defendant in a criminal case.

"I have to say directly that I am very sorry that due to circumstances known to all of us, these personnel changes are taking place. I can say words of gratitude to Vahan Kerobyan for his work as Minister of Economy, but at the moment I don't want to give any comments..... We must also be careful not to violate the presumption of someone's innocence and not to influence the results of the investigation," Pashinyan said on Thursday while introducing new Minister Gevorg Papoyan to the staff of the Economy Ministry.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the investigation will be full-fledged and objective, and questions will be answered. According to him, the rule of law is an absolute priority for the Armenian authorities.

"I say once again, we cannot hope that everyone is blameless in their actions, but we should also be especially attentive to the legality of spending the funds belonging to the state and the people," Pashinyan emphasized.

Vahan Kerobyan was dismissed on February 14, 2024 and is one of the defendants in a criminal case on abuse of official powers, along with several other officials of the Ministry of Economy, as well as the head and employees of Synergy Company.

His successor was Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly from August 2021. -0-
