Armenian WW II veterans to participate in ‘War Veterans Friendship Train against Nazism’ event

Viktor Rebets, the head of the South Caucasus Railway, a Russian company operating Armenia’s railroads, had a meeting today with Armenian World War II veterans who will participate in a special event called "War Veterans Friendship Train against Nazism," organized by the state-owned Russian Railways.

Viktor Rebets, the head of the South Caucasus Railway, a Russian company operating Armenia’s railroads, had a meeting today with Armenian World War II veterans who will participate in a special event called "War Veterans Friendship Train against Nazism," organized by the state-owned Russian Railways.
The veterans Vardges Stepanyan, Artush Mkrtchyan and Petros Petrosian, all over 90, have left for Moscow where they will join other WWII veterans from other former Soviet republics to travel aboard the train to Minsk and Brest in Belarus and back to Moscow.
This was the route that transported Soviet troops to battle fields and took them back home after the end of the war. Viktor Rebets said the veterans will visit several sites in Belarus related to World War II and will be welcomed also by the heads of railway companies form CIS and Baltic countries who will gather in Minsk for a business meeting.
All the costs, including the costs of people who will accompany the veterans, will be covered by the South Caucasus Railway.
The South Caucasus Railways is run by Russian Railways. The concessional agreement was concluded in 2008 for 30 years, with a right of extension for another 20 years after the first 20 years of operation. -0-
