Azerbaijani military units are 5.5-6 km away from the center of Jermuk, a spa town in Vayots Dzor province, Armenian Armed Forces General Staff Chief, First Deputy Defense Minister, Eduard Asryan told reporters today.

YEREVAN, October 31. /ARKA/. Azerbaijani military units are 5.5-6 km away from the center of Jermuk, a spa town in Vayots Dzor province, Armenian Armed Forces General Staff Chief, First Deputy Defense Minister, Eduard Asryan told reporters today.

"Azerbaijan has occupied more than 130 square kilometers of Armenian territory, if we count from the enemy's front line to the depths of our territories, where the enemy has succeeded," he said.

The Chief of the General Staff also said that the operational situation in the eastern and southeastern sections of the border is relatively stable now.

"Violations of the ceasefire regime are recorded on the eastern segment - in the direction of Kutakan, Kahakn, as well as Sotk in Gegharkunik province and Jermuk in Vayots Dzor," he explained.

"The enemy is trying to hinder the engineering work that we are carrying out to reinforce our positions," he said.

On September 13, Azerbaijan launched an unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Armenia. Using heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers and combat UAVs, the Azerbaijani armed forces shelled 36 residential areas and communities, including towns of Goris, Jermuk, Vardenis, Kapan, Geghamasar deep within the sovereign territory of Armenia.

The Azerbaijani attack deliberately targeted civilian population and vital civilian infrastructures. According to official information, more than 200 Armenian citizens, both military personnel and civilians were killed and went missing, 293 servicemen were wounded. -0-
