YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. Azerbaijani troops create pretexts for shelling Armenian positions by first firing at their own positions, then in the direction of Armenian military posts, Armenia’s Ministry of Defense said today.

It said during the night observation and analysis of the Azerbaijani armed forces' operations in Sotk-Kutakan area, it was established that when violating the ceasefire, the Azerbaijani armed forces first fire at their own positions, and then begin firing at the Armenian positions.

"Thus the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan seek to create the impression that the Armenian side is firing in the direction of their positions and that they have to retaliate by firing in the direction of Armenian positions with small arms of different caliber," the Armenian Defense Ministry said.

‘Azerbaijan is continuously attributing its own ceasefire violations to Armenia. Obviously, this is a creation of a pretext for new military aggression against Armenia. A permanent international mechanism is needed to maintain the ceasefire regime and provide border security,’ Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan tweeted on Monday.-0-
