Bulk of lost positions in Artsakh taken back, particular progress recorded – president’s spokesman
YEREVAN, September 30. /ARKA/. The Artsakh Defense Army was able to regain the bulk of the lost positions and reach some progress, Artsakh President's Press Secretary Vahram Poghosyan said at a briefing on Wednesday.

He recalled that for the third day already, intense fighting continues along the entire length of the contact line.

According to him, on September 27, Azerbaijan launched large-scale military actions against Artsakh and last night was no exception. Throughout the night, there was intense fighting along almost the entire length of the contact line, especially in the northern and northeastern directions.

"The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan had certain successes only on the first day, already on the night of September 28, the Defense Army was able to restore the main part of the lost positions as well as to register a certain progress and successes that persist to this day," Poghosyan said.

He stressed that the Defense Army can intensively resist all attacks carried out by the Azerbaijani army with the assistance of the Turkish military.

According to him, yesterday the Turkish defense minister announced his readiness to take a more direct participation, but at the moment there are already quite large Turkish military units in Azerbaijan, with the help of which Azerbaijan is trying to achieve success.

"All attacks of Azerbaijan last night were failed. At the moment, the Azerbaijani army has suffered very heavy losses of people and equipment," Poghosyan said.

On September 27, at 07:10, Azerbaijani troops launched an offensive along the entire length of the contact line in Artsakh, but were thrown back in several directions. Intense fighting continues in the south, southeast and north of the front line. Turkey joined the aggression. Residential areas are being shelled as well.

The Azerbaijani side suffered losses in manpower (more than 790 people killed and around 1,900 wounded) and equipment, in particular, 72 UAVs, 4 helicopters, 137 tanks and other armored vehicles and 1 aircraft. According to the data of the defense ministry of Armenia and Artsakh, 80 Armenian servicemen were killed and around about 100-120 wounded on the Armenian side.

The Armenian side informed the international community, including the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, about the aggression by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, also about the shelling of peaceful settlements.
