YEREVAN, August 26. /ARKA/. The concept of Nagorno-Karabkh Republic’s constitution has plenty in common with the American model – democracy based on the presidency institution, Shavarsh Kocharyan, Armenian deputy foreign minister, told journalists on Thursday.
Asked how the governance model chosen by Nagorno-Karabakh Republic can impact settlement of Karabakh conflict, Kocharyan said: “Very often by presidential model they mean an Azerbaijan-like state, but this is wrong, since the model chosen by Karabakh has much in common with the American model.”
He also said that the choice has heavily been conditioned by the circumstance that Karabakh conflict is not settled yet.
The size of the country with its potential has been taken into consideration as well.
On August 15, 2016, Bako Sahakyan, Nagorno-Karabakh president, upheld the constitutional reform concept and instructed the Constitutional Reform Commission to develop a project of constitutional reforms. --0----
