Court in Yerevan extends for 2 months the arrest of ex-president Kocharyan's son
YEREVAN, October 19. /ARKA/. A court in Yerevan has extended for 2 months the arrest of Levon Kocharyan, the son of former President Robert Kocharyan, Levon Kocharyan's lawyer Alexander Kochubayev said in a Facebook post.
He said the ruling had been preceded by a 15-hour court session. According to Kochubayev, Judge Masis Melkonyan rejected the defense's demand to recuse himself and declared his impartial attitude towards Levon Kocharyan.
According to Kochubaev, the prosecutor overseeing the case said he had no factual data on Levon Kocharyan's improper behavior, but nevertheless he should remain in custody.
The lawyer noted that the defense presented its objections and also handed over exclusive information to the court.
The son of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan is accused of using violence against a policeman at a rally in Yerevan in September. --0--
