Armenian and Russian enterprises plan to sign new contracts on cooperation in defense-industrial sector, Deputy Secretary General of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Valery Semerikov said at the break-interval of the joint session by Russian and Armenian national units of CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation

YEREVAN, April 12./ARKA/. Armenian and Russian enterprises plan to sign new contracts on cooperation in defense-industrial sector, Deputy Secretary General of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Valery Semerikov said at the break-interval of the joint session by Russian and Armenian national units of CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation, Novosti-Armenia agency reports.
Charentsavan machine-tool plant (Armenia) and OJSC Scientific Production Corporation Uralvagonzavod reached a framework agreement in Armenia’s capital the previous day.
“The contracts signed between these two joint-stock companies have targets. They are related to launching service center for armored vehicles and military equipment maintenance. This is a narrow targeted professional activity directed to establishing this center. Of course, other contracts will also be signed. We will discuss it and give more details after the session,” Semerikov said.
He also said the national units of CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation will discuss the issues related to memorandum, that was signed between the Defense Ministry of Armenia and Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, and was approved by the presidents of the both countries.
“This memorandum refers to integration and cooperation between military-industrial enterprises. In accordance with this document yesterday we discussed the issues together with the experts and today we put this issue on a higher level, that of Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation session. We will be informed on the existing problems, and prepare a timeline for opening join enterprises, that will serve in the interests of defense-industrial complex of the both countries,” Semerikov clarified.
The issues are said to be related to goods for military purposes, repair and maintenance of weapons and military equipment, setup of joint enterprises on the territory of Armenia.
“They will be set up based on the present enterprises or new service centers will be built. It implies creating new jobs, technology, Armenia’s defense improvement, as all these activities are carried out under CSTO auspices,” Semerikov said.
Charentsavan machine-tool plant (Armenia) is included into the interstate handbook of military-industrial complex of the CSTO member states. It manufactures different types of machine tools, electric drives and metalworking tools.
OJSC Scientific Production Corporation Uralvagonzavod after F. Dzerzhinsky is a general unit in the integrated structure made up of over 20 industrial enterprises, research institutes and construction bureau in Russia and Europe. It is a leader in Russian freight railway engineering industry and has a strong technical and intellectual potential. —0--
