YEREVAN, October 14. /ARKA/. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia is discussing now to what position to appoint Hovik Abrahamyan, who was recently dismissed as prime minister, Haykakan Zhamanak (Armneian Time) reports.
According to the newspaper, Armenian Republicans tend to think that Abrahamyan may be sent to some country as ambassador, especially taking into account such precedents in the past.
His predecessor, Tigran Sargsyan, was dispatched to the United States for diplomatic mission just after he quitted his prime-ministerial seat.
There were speculations that Sargsyan was removed from Armenia not to hamper his successor by his presence here, and the same is expected will be done with Abrahamyan to rid Karen Karapetyan, the current premier, from his predecessor’s presence. A convenient country is thought to be chosen for him, the authors of the publication say.
Commenting on the rumors going around, Vahram Baghdasaryan, the head of the Armenian Republicans’ faction in the National Assembly, said ‘Tigran Sargsyan’s skills were badly needed then in the United States’.
“And Hovik Abrahamyan is now relaxing, and there was no any discussion over his future position,” he said. --0----
