EBRD President comments on Armenia's prospects of becoming part of the EU

YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum in Yerevan, the bank's President Odile Renaud-Basso responded to a question on whether Armenia will integrate into the EU.

"I think the Prime Minister of Armenia said this a few months ago. In particular, that the country wants to become part of the EU community. I don't know about membership, but about relations with the EU - yes," Reno-Basso said.

Earlier, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said the most correct and desirable option for Armenia is to apply for EU candidate status, while Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia is ready to be as close to the EU as the EU will allow it to be.
