Economy, tourism and education: Armenian FM and Cypriot parliament speaker outline areas of cooperation

YEREVAN, May 20. /ARКА/. The dynamics of deepening partnership between Armenia and Cyprus, as well as the activity of the political dialogue between the two countries were noted at the meeting of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan with Speaker of the Cypriot House of Representatives Annita Dimitriou.
"Touching on the opening of permanent embassies in Yerevan and Nicosia, Mirzoyan and Dimitriou expressed confidence that joint efforts will help expand cooperation in new areas of mutual interest. Among other areas, the economy, tourism and education were highlighted, which have significant development potential," the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
Mirzoyan and Dimitriou touched upon issues of mutual support between the two countries on international platforms, stressed the importance and prospects of cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus in the issue of continuous deepening of the Armenia-EU partnership.
The Armenian Minister stressed that the best implementation of the existing instruments and the strong support of the Member States in this direction are essential for deepening the Armenia-EU cooperation.
Regional issues were also touched upon at the meeting. Mirzoyan stressed that despite all the difficulties, Armenia is committed to the peace agenda in the South Caucasus. He presented the efforts aimed at normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including emphasizing the importance of signing a peace treaty.
