YEREVAN, May 21 . / ARKA /. The EU expects all the citizens of Ukraine, including residents of its eastern Donetsk and Lugansk regions,  to go to the polls on May 25 to elect their president, head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea, told Armenian journalists today.

He said the EU has already expressed its position on this issue and he thinks that the people of Ukraine will jointly participate in the election.

Asked whether the EU hopes that the situation in Ukraine would  stabilize after the presidential election  Hristea said  he is not a representative of the EU to Ukraine and can not comment on the situation there.

"The only statement I can do at the moment is that he EU expects that the May 25 polls would meet democratic election requirements,” he added.

Donetsk and Lugansk regions were proclaimed as "People's Republic” after May 11 referenda. They said they would ignore the May 25 polls. -0-
