YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. An exhibition of Rossiya Segodnya photographer Andrei Stenin's works opened at the House of Moscow in Yerevan on Thursday as part of the campaign for his release after he had gone missing while working in Ukraine earlier this month.

The Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin who opened the exhibition expressed his gratitude to initiators and guests of the event.

Reporters who, like Stenin, take risks and go to conflict regions for unbiased information are really courageous, the ambassador said, as cited by Novosti-Armenia.

Volinkin expressed concerns that reporters are still pursued and intimidated in conflict zones. Six reporters were killed this year in Ukraine, he added.

The global community should respond to Stenin’s case and to the situation with reporters in Ukraine as a whole, the Russian diplomat said.

Russian photo journalist Andrey Stenin went missing in eastern Ukraine on August 5. His whereabouts remain unknown. Some sources claim Ukrainian military forces have detained him, but Kiev officials have not confirmed this information. Rallies to support the missing journalist have been held in various cities in Russia, Serbia and Argentina.

Various international organizations, including Reporters sans frontiers, the International Federation of Journalists, as well as the OSCE representative for freedom of mass media Dunia Miatovich expressed their concerns and urged to immediately release the photoreporter. –0--
