Festive event held in Erebuni airport in Armenia ahead of Day of Russia

The open-air day was announced as part of the celebration of the Day of Russia in Russia’s air base of Erebuni Southern Military District in Armenia.
YEREVAN, June 11. /ARKA/. The open-air day was announced as part of the celebration of the Day of Russia in Russia’s air base of Erebuni Southern Military District in Armenia.
Major General Vladimir Ustinov, the commander of the 102 Russian military base, said this is a holiday of freedom and civil peace.
“This is a holiday of unity and consolidation,” he said. “After declaration of independence Russia’s new history began and another page was turned over. People got stuck together to preserve history and multinational culture for building a mighty state and a just society.”
Ustinov said Russians and Armenians have plenty in common – they together won the victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II).
«Our people unity is our and our children's future. We should preserve and strengthen the traditions and values that had been established by our ancestors,» he said.
Armenian Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan, in his congratulation adress, said this holiday means Russians' striving for the truth and justice, their affection for their motherland and their team spirit.
«These values unite Russians and Armenians today,» he said.
Pilots of the Russian air base and army aviation of Armenia's defense ministry presented an air show to the guests, and sportsmen of Armenia's sky-jumping national team bailed out.
There was also an exhibition of aviation equipment. Intelligence operators at the Russian military base and Armenian stuntmen showed their skills.
A concert of the Song and Dance Company of Russia's Southern Military District that came to Armenia exactly for this event was a separate episode in the festive program.
The event was attended by Armenian National Assembly Vice-Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan and MPs, as well as high-ranking military officers and a delegation of Russian diplomats headed by Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin. ---0------
