YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has appointed Tigran Davtyan, former executive director of ConverseBank, as the head of the financial policy department in the Eurasian Economic Commission, the commission reports on its website.
Davtyan said upon taking office that he considers formation of a common financial market in the Eurasian Economic Union.
He pointed out a coordinated macroeconomic and monetary policy as well as dedollarization and transition to transactions in Russia’s national currency as key objectives.
“Certain success has already achieved here,” Davtyan said. “Compared with 2010, the share of dollar deals in transactions between Armenia and Russia has shrunk, and now about 40% of transactions are made in Russian rubles.”
The head of the financial policy department in the Eurasian Economic Commission also said that financial integration and harmonization in the Eurasian Economic Union will make it possible to transformation of the population savings into investments, to expand the range of available financial instruments and to get access to long-term loans.
In his opinion, this will establish financial stability in the Eurasian Economic Union’s space and will ward off outside impacts.
Tigran Davtyan was born in 1970 in Sisian, Armenia. In 1993, he graduated from the Yerevan State University with economist and mathematician diploma. He is Ph. Dr and a professor at the Russian-Armenian University.
Davtyan has run an investment company over a period between 1991 and 1994, and then, between 1994 and 1998, has worked at various positions in the Central Bank of Armenia.
In 1998 and 1999, Davtyan worked at the Armenian prime minister’s administration.
After that, from 1999 to 2002, he worked as CEO of the Central Depository of Armenia and chairman of its board.
Over a period between 2002 and 2008 he has run commercial, international and state-owned companies and between 2008 and 2016 he was executive director of ConverseBank and chairman of its board. -0---
