French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna called for a transparent investigation of the March 5 fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh that killed five people, as she spoke to the National Assembly, Russian news agency Interfax reported.

YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna called for a transparent investigation of the March 5 fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh that killed five people, as she spoke to the National Assembly, Russian news agency Interfax reported.

She added that the French Foreign Ministry has already demanded that such an investigation be carried out and its results made public. Colonna noted that "France is the country which is most interested in protecting Armenians."

In an ambush attack carried out by Azerbaijani troops in Nagorno-Karabakh on March 5 three police officers of Nagorno-Karabakh were killed. The attack occurred in the zone of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers. Azerbaijan said two of its soldiers were killed in the fighting.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern about the March 5 shooting and urged all parties to show restraints and make steps to de-escalate the situation.

Artsakh Foreign Ministry described the attack as a’ war crime’. Armenia condemned the deadly shootings as an act of “terrorism” which it said was “pre-planned and ordered by Azerbaijan’s supreme leadership. -0-
