YEREVAN, February 28. /ARKA/. Prescriptions for medicines in Armenia will be written in electronic format from March 1, 2024, Deputy Health Minister Artak Jumayan told a press conference.

He reminded that the system of electronic prescriptions is being introduced in stages since July 2022 and currently covers all polyclinics (primary health care institutions).

The process is available through the ArMed e-health system (a mobile application of the same name is also running).

The Deputy Minister emphasized that from March 1, the system will cover antibiotics, antifungal, antimycobacterial, antiviral drugs, immune sera and immunoglobulins, vaccines and misoprostols. The changes will not affect prescriptions for psychotropic drugs and drugs containing narcotic substances.

Tsakhkanush Sarkisyan, head of the e-health department of the National Institute of Health, specified that the online prescription will specify the drug, its active substance, quantity and frequency of administration. When visiting a pharmacy, a citizen must present an identity document, by which the pharmacist will be able to find the necessary prescription in the general database.

It is not necessary to buy all the drugs on the list at once. The pharmacist will indicate in the electronic prescription the number of purchased drugs, so that the patient can buy the rest in another pharmacy or at another time.

She specified that paper prescriptions will be valid when the electronic system is not available. -0-
