YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Georgia respects Armenia’s choice of integration into the Eurasian Economic Union, former Georgian foreign minister Maya Panjikidze said at a press conference.
"Armenia respects our choices, and we similarly respect its choice. We are neighbors and we have to have good relationships, no matter what vectors of development we pursue," she said, according to Caucasus-online.
Panjikidze said that the two countries could become a good platform for the settlement of conflicts.
"Armenia has its own conflicts, we have our own. Georgia could play the role of neutral intermediary in the resolution of Armenia’s conflicts and thus contribute to stability in the region, she said.
At the same time, commenting on official Tbilisi’s reaction to the expansion of Russia's military presence in the region, particularly in Armenia, Panjikidze noted that Tbilisi is opposed to it, especially in the "occupied territories of Georgia", but that does not concern Armenia.
"With regard to other countries in the region, it is their personal choice… Now we have one goal - to increase our own military power in order to prevent what happened 8 years ago. This is why we are working with our NATO partners, to strengthen our defense capability,’ she said. -0-
