Glendale City Council names April as “Armenian Genocide Commemoration Month”

The Glendale City Council on Tuesday presented a proclamation designating the Month of April 2015 as “Armenian Genocide Commemoration Month,” Asbarez.com reports.
YEREVAN, March 12. /ARKA/. The Glendale City Council on Tuesday presented a proclamation designating the Month of April 2015 as “Armenian Genocide Commemoration Month,” Asbarez.com reports.
Mayor Zareh Sinanyan presented the proclamation during a session of the City Council to representatives of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of the Western United States.
The document also instructed the city institutions such as schools and libraries to “inform and provide education about the Genocide”.
The Glendale City Council called upon the US President Barak Obama “to work toward equitable, constructive, stable, and durable Armenian-Turkish relations based upon the Republic of Turkey’s full acknowledgment of the facts and ongoing consequences of the Armenian Genocide”.
Copies of the resolution will be transmitted to US President, to the Speaker of the House, Turkish Ambassador to US and other high-ranking officials. –0--
