Head of Armenian Church receives famous Latvian composer and famous Russian ice-hockey player

The head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, received on Monday in Holy Echmiadzin a famous Latvian composer Raimond Pauls and a famous Russian ice-hockey player Vladislav Tretyak, who is now president of the Russian Hockey Federation and a member of the Russian State Duma (lower parliament chamber).
YEREVAN, October 14. / ARKA /.The head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, received on Monday in Holy Echmiadzin a famous Latvian composer Raimond Pauls and a famous Russian ice-hockey player Vladislav Tretyak, who is now president of the Russian Hockey Federation and a member of the Russian State Duma (lower parliament chamber).
The Holy See said Catholicos Karekin II spoke about the mission and the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the life of the Armenian people, stressing that the Christian faith as the principal guarantor of their national identity, has strengthened not only spiritual, but also the creative life of the nation.
Karekin II praised the contribution of Raimond Pauls and Vladislav Tretiak to music and sport respectively, and wished them vigor and energy.
In their turn, the outstanding hockey player and the famous composer thanked the Catholicos of All Armenians for the warm welcome at the spiritual center of the Armenian people. After the meeting Tretyak and Pauls visited the museum of Echmiadzin. .-0-
