YEREVAN, August 5. /ARKA/. Import of some varieties of goods into Armenia is no longer considered smuggling, Armen Sakapetoyan, deputy head of the Armenian State Revenue Committee, said on Thursday.
In his words, this legislative change was prompted by Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and its commitments toward the union.
This change means that imported goods with improper paperwork, retarded formalization and wrong declarations as well as goods without marking are no longer considered as smuggled goods, and their import carries administrative responsibility.
Explosives, dangerous substances, military industry’s products, drugs, psychotropic agents, articles of cultural value and the money that exceeds the amount set by the law continue to be considered smuggled goods.
In Sakapetoyan’s opinion, amendments to some laws will give an impetus to improvement of business environment in the country. --0----
