YEREVAN, July 4. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received on Tuesday Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, who is completing his diplomatic mission in the country, the government's press service reported.

It said Pashinyan thanked the ambassador for his contribution to the development of Armenian-Iranian relations.

He noted that Zokhuri's tenure in Armenia were difficult years for Armenia, and despite this, cooperation between the two countries has been developing in various spheres.

In particular, bilateral trade constantly increase, Iranian companies are involved in the construction of the Meghri border checkpoint and the Friendship Bridge connecting Armenia and Georgia.

Iran also opened consulate in Armenian Kapan, the number of Iranian tourists visiting Armenia is on the rise and, close cooperation in such areas as road construction, infrastructure and energy, as well as active bilateral high-level contacts are continuing.

In his turn, Ambassador Zohouri thanked Prime Minister and the government for the active cooperation and expressed confidence that the Armenian-Iranian partnership will continue to develop and strengthen.

According to the official statistics, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in the first four months of this year amounted to $220.1mln, an increase of 19.6% as compared to January-April 2022. -0-
