The joint drills of the armed forces of Armenia and Karabakh army of defense were a success, despite the tragic downing of the helicopter, Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan said after completion of drills on Friday, as cited by the press office.

The “Unity 2014” drills were carried out under a military cooperation program between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and involved over 30,000 servicemen of NKR’s army of defense, 1,550 artillery units, 600 units of armored vehicles, 300 air defense units, 1,300 anti-tank units.
These were the biggest ever and most useful drills, despite the tragic incident, the president said.
On Wednesday Azeri forces shot down a Karabakhi MI-24 carrying out a training flight.
The president said experts will summarize and analyze the results of the drills. He expressed gratitude to servicemen for their combat capability, will and devotion, and wished them safe service. –0--
