Lieutenant-general Levon Mnatsakanyan appointed head of defense in Karabakh

President of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Bako Sahakyan signed a decree appointing lieutenant-general Levon Mnatsakanyan as minister of defense and commander-in-chief of NKR’s army of defense, the press office of NKR’s president reported.
YEREVAN, June 17. /ARKA/. President of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Bako Sahakyan signed a decree appointing lieutenant-general Levon Mnatsakanyan as minister of defense and commander-in-chief of NKR’s army of defense, the press office of NKR’s president reported.
The former Karabakh minister of defense lieutenant-general Movses Hakobyan was relieved of his post and later appointed as deputy head of Armenia’s Armed Forces General Headquarters.
Under a special decree of NKR’s president, Movses Hakobayn was awarded Grigor Lusavorich order (Gregory the Illuminator) for his exceptional services to the Republic of Artsakh.
On Wednesday Bako Sahakyan visited NKR’s ministry of defense to introduce the newly appointed minister Levon Mnatsakanyan.
Sahakyan expressed gratitude to the former minister Movses Hakobyan for his large-scale contribution. The combat efficiency was enhanced and numerous problems were solved during his term in office, the president said.
Lieutenant-general Levon Mnatsakanyan has extensive experience and profound knowledge, and enjoys a high reputation and respect in the army, Sahakyan said in introducing the newly appointed minister.
The meeting was attended by Armenia’s minister of defense Seyran Ohanyan and other officials. –0—
