YEREVAN, November 16. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Ministry of Defense said the situation on an eastern section of the border with Azerbaijan was extremely tense as of 14.30.

“Local battles are being fought. The enemy is artillery, armored vehicles and small arms of various calibers,” it said.

The ministry noted that commensurate actions are being taken by the Armenian side and that it controls the overall situation.

Earlier today, Azerbaijan resorted to another provocation on an eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border using artillery and armored vehicles. As a result of a fierce firefight, the enemy lost armored vehicles, his advance was thwarted, according to the Armenian Ministry of Defense.

The Armenian Defense Ministry said the enemy has sustained heavy losses in armored vehicles and manpower. It said also that data on the dead and wounded on the Armenian side are being specified. At the moment, it is  known about four wounded servicemen.

On November 14, Azerbaijani troops backed by armored vehicles invaded the sovereign territory of the country at an eastern section of the border encircling four military outposts of the Armenian armed forces.

After negotiations, the Azerbaijani military equipment and the troops left the territory of Armenia, while the Armenian troops pulled back from the above four positions.

In a statement Armenia’s Security Council called November 15 on the Russian Federation, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the international community saying the ongoing aggressive actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces are directed against the sovereignty, territorial integrity of Armenia and the regional security and stability in violation of the November 9, 2020 Russian-brokered statement on ending hostilities signed by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.-0-
