Moscow does not need to appoint its ‘men’ in Armenia
YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. Alexander Iskandaryan, the director of a Yerevan-based think tank-Caucasus Institute- has brushed off media speculation that Armenia’s newly-appointed prime minister Karen Karapetyan was ‘dispatched’ by Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Speaking at a news conference Iskandaryan said Moscow does not need to appoint someone to a top position in Armenia, because irrespective of who is Armenia’s leader, its foreign policy will be about the same.

"Russia does not need to appoint someone in Armenia. No matter who is Armenia’s leader, he/she will pursue the same policy pursued by Armenia today," said Iskandaryan.

According to him, all the three presidents of Armenia are very different people - both personally and politically, with different backgrounds, but their policies in relation to Russia were about the same.

"It is the policy of a country, located between Turkey and Azerbaijan, with the unresolved Karabakh conflict and with security needs, a country lacking energy resources, closed borders and located away from Europe,’  Iskandaryan said.

"Therefore, there is no need for Moscow to appoint some in Armenia. It will talk to the incumbent authorities of the countries", he added.-0-
