Nagorno-Karabakh crisis management task force in Armenia takes decision on providing urgent humanitarian aid

YEREVAN, July 26. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan chaired on Tuesday a regular meeting of a government task force created by Prime Minister Pashinyan to manage the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, the government press service reported.

It said the task force discussed the unfiolding humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor.

The task force stated that since June 15 it has been impossible for the Russian peacekeeping forces and the International Committee of the Red Cross to deliver humanitarian goods even in a very limited volume.

As a result, Nagorno-Karabakh is experiencing severe shortages of basic necessities such as food, medicines, hygiene products and fuel, which, in addition to the disruption of electricity and natural gas supplies, health care, education and social services, and agricultural work, have had catastrophic consequences.

The severe impact of the situation on vulnerable groups of the population, such as children, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, the elderly and the chronically ill, was stated.

The task force adopted decisions on providing urgent humanitarian aid (food and medicines) to the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. -0-
