YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons,  denied Azerbaijani side’s allegations that the dead bodies of Azeri soldiers, handed by  Nagorno-Karabakh after the end of hostilities, had traces of torture and desecration, describing them as groundless.

The exchange of dead bodies of soldiers was conducted on April 10 under the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office near the village of Bash-Karvend.

In a statement, the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, stressed that before the exchange procedure, the bodies of the killed soldiers were examined in the presence of representatives of the International Red Cross Committee and no traces of torture or abuse on the bodies of Azerbaijani soldiers were found.

"By making groundless accusations, voiced five days after the exchange of dead bodies, Azerbaijan is trying cynically to mislead the international community and to evade responsibility for the war crimes committed by its army against civilian population and soldiers of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic,’ the statement says.-0-
