YEREVAN, May 6. /ARKA/. The current Georgian crisis is connected rather with the economy than with the parliamentary rule, expert on Georgian issues Jonny Melikyan said in his interview to Sputnik-Armenia radio channel, as cited by Novosti-Armenia.
According to the expert, the country should turn to the parliamentary rule after all the economic issues are solved.
By the end of this week the new Georgian government may face a confidence vote in the parliament. The confidence vote matter was brought up after the minister of sports and youth affairs Levan Kipiani became the seventh to leave the cabinet on April 29.
According to the Georgian constitution, confidence vote motion can be brought up in case if one third of the cabinet (7 out of 19 ministers) leaves their posts.
According to Melikyan, the events in Georgia are directly connected with the situation in Ukraine and the crisis in Russia, “as Georgia is heavily dependent on the Russian economy”.
Asked whether or not the Georgian parliamentary model was effective if there were no economic problems, the expert said that the system was not that stable despite the fact that it helped find solutions to certain problems.
The “Georgian Dream” coalition is not a solid structure, and its political parties display different approached to local and foreign issues, which has an impact on the coalition policies as a whole, Melikyan said.
Yet, it is not a critical crisis able to make people resort to drastic measures, he said. –0--
