YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. No final decision on the structure of the future Armenian government has been taken so far, parliament speaker Ararat Mirzoyan told journalists today. He said the question was being actively discussed both by the government and the legislature and was very likely to be placed on the first session’s agenda.

Mirzoyan disagreed with arguments, voiced particularly by Edmon Marukyan form the Bright Armenia Party that the Police and the National Security Service should be returned their previous status of ministries, saying the arguments are a serious political mistake.

"In my opinion, one of our recent  political and institutional achievements is that these two structures have become depoliticized. My personal approach is that we must maintain their current status," Mirzoyan said.

According to the speaker, it is necessary to find mechanisms to strengthen public control over these departments without changing their status.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the  number of ministries will be cut from 17 to 12. -0-
