Office of Armenia's Human Rights Defender releases updated report on war crimes committed by Azerbaijan
YEREVAN, Oct. 5. /ARKA/. The Office of Armenia's Human Rights Defender has released an updated unscheduled report on the consequences of the Azerbaijani armed forces' attack on Armenia, which summarizes and analyzes the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani military.
In particular, the report presents the cases of physical abuse, mockery, torture of Armenian soldiers, as well as inhuman treatment of the bodies of the dead military, which were enthusiastically hailed by thousands of Azerbaijani users of social networks.
Thus, photos of the dead bodies were accompanied with such captions as "the best Armenian man is a dead Armenian man" and "the best Armenian woman is a dead Armenian woman".
The report cites numerous cases of the Armenophobic nature of Azerbaijani state policy such as the calls to violence voiced by public and political figures and officials.
It says that Azerbaijani servicemen repeatedly tried to intimidate the residents of Armenian borderline settlements.
The report also mentions humanitarian issues, the problems of people displaced from the war zones, non-evacuated representatives of socially vulnerable groups, killed and wounded civilians, damage caused to the vital infrastructure, environment, as well as tourism and economy.
The Office of the Human Rights Defender states that the facts of extrajudicial killings of Armenian prisoners of war, torture and inhuman treatment of soldiers, as well as torture of bodies of dead military personnel are analyzed in the second non-public report and will be submitted to the eligible international organizations and actors in due course.
The report is available in Armenian and English. -0-
