YEREVAN, October 29 /, ARKA /. The Office of Armenia’s Human Rights Defender will get 249.6 million drams in 2015, by 26.4 million drams more than in the outgoing year, first deputy finance minister Pavel Safaryan said today during a parliamentary discussion on next year’s budget.

According to him, the rise in the allocation is prompted in the first place by an increase in public servants salaries effective from July 1 this year. This requires 15 million drams additionally. Another factor is the higher electricity price, he said.

Safaryan said all other expenditures of the office did not change. The cost of the rapid response unit’s maintenance is 10 million drams.

Tatevik Khachatryan from the Office of Human Rights Defender said there are no plans to expand the number of employees next year. Currently it has 55 people on its payroll, of who 33 provide legal advice. -0-
