YEREVAN, 12 November. /ARKA/. Opposition factions in the Armenian Parliament lashed out at Prime Minister Pashinyan's ruling Civil Contract party today for skipping a vote on an opposition statement calling on the international community to pressure Azerbaijan, host of the UN COP 29 climate summit, to release Armenian prisoners.

Opposition MPs accused the authorities of inaction when it comes to the fate of dozens of Armenian captives held hostage by Baku.

Parliamentary Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan responded by accusing the opposition of ‘absolute indifference to the future of the captives’ and of having ‘exhausted all topics trying to monetise this issue’.

In response, Artsvik Minasyan, an opposition member of the Hayastan (Armenia) faction, called Rubinyan's statements a ‘political disgrace.’

Minasyan argued that by opposing the statement, the Civil Contract was opposing the common will and interests of the people of Armenia.

The vote took place, but since the ruling faction, which controls the majority of seats in the parliament, missed it, the statement was not adopted.-0-.
