Parliamentary race in Armenia to run at two levels – Aharon Adibekyan
YEREVAN, February 24. /ARKA/. Aharon Adibekyan, head of SOCIOMETER Center for Sociology Studies, thinks that the parliamentary elections in Armenia will run at two levels.

“The Republican Party of Armenia and Tsarukyan bloc will compete for leadership at the first level,” he said. “They have a common goal, but different objectives – the Republican Party of Armenia has to retain its positions, while Tsarukyan bloc will try to get its members back.”

The second level is divided into two groups of parties.

“The first group consists of already accomplished parties, such as the Armenian National Congress, Armenian Revolutionary Federation/ Dashnaktsutiun and Armenian Renaissance [former Orinats Yerkir], whose goal is to strengthen their positions, and the second group consists new blocs and alliances,” Adibekyan said.

In his opinion, Oskanian-Ohanyan-Raffi bloc’s chances are not bad. His assumption is grounded on the idea that its three leaders are well-known by the population.

Adibakyan also said that Yelk (Way Out) alliance has its own advantages and chances as a startup political unit. He thinks this bloc is fit to young people.

The parliamentary election polling day is April 2. --0---
