YEREVAN, December 12. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation today with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Kremlin website reported.

"In follow-up to their December 9 meeting in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit, the sides continued discussions on the implementation of the fundamental agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan," the Kremlin said in a press release.

It said special attention was paid to ensuring security on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as to restoration of transport, logistics, trade and economic ties in the South Caucasus.

Meanwhile, according to the press service of the Armenian government, Pashinyan and Putin also discussed the tension in the Lachin corridor (the only road connecting Artsakh and Armenia) after it was blocked by a group of Azerbaijanis today morning.

Pashinyan stressed the importance of ensuring uninterrupted communication between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and the implementation of consistent steps by the Russian peacekeeping mission in this direction.

On December 3, and also today a large group of Azerbaijanis has blocked the road connecting Artsakh with Armenia. The group that calls themselves ‘environmentalists’ wants to investigate “illegal” mining activity in Nagorno-Karabakh and its “ecological consequences.

On December 3, the road was reopened after the mediation of Russian peacekeepers. -0-
