Pashinyan praises development of strategic dialogue between Armenia and U.S.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of the Armenian-American cooperation for implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia as he received a delegation of U.S. Congress members led by David Price, Chairman of the U.S. House Democratic Partnership Committee, who arrived in Yerevan on Monday.

YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of the Armenian-American cooperation for implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia as he received a delegation of U.S. Congress members led by David Price, Chairman of the U.S. House Democratic Partnership Committee, who arrived in Yerevan on Monday.

‘Intensive Armenian-American contacts and high-level reciprocal visits greatly contribute to the ongoing development of the strategic dialogue between the two countries,’ Pashinyan was quoted as saying by the Armenian government press office.

Pashinyan spoke about Azerbaijan's aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia and stressed the importance of adequate and targeted condemnation by the U.S. and the international community.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of ensuring the security and rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Pashinyan also praised the U.S. for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

In his turn, Price welcomed the consistent steps undertaken towards the development of democratic institutions in Armenia. He also stressed the importance of expanding the Armenian-American close cooperation in order to develop and strengthen ties in various areas.

The Congress members deemed unacceptable the Azerbaijani incursion into Armenia's sovereign territory and stressed the need for an immediate return of Azerbaijani units to their initial positions.

Price condemned the inhuman treatment of captured Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijani troops and also stressed the importance of ensuring the return of all Armenian prisoners of war, who are still in Azerbaijan.

The Armenian prime minister commended the U.S. for its efforts in this regard. The interlocutors exchanged also views on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as well as on the processes taking place in the region. --0--
