Political analyst: Armenians in Turkey get opportunity to advance their interests via pro-Kurdish alliance

Armenians living in Turkey have got an opportunity to advance their interests via pro-Kurdish alliance, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which won seats in the parliament, Vigen Hakobyan, a political technologists, is quoted by Novosti-Armenia as saying Monday while commenting on the results of the elections in Turkey.
YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/. Armenians living in Turkey have got an opportunity to advance their interests via pro-Kurdish alliance, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which won seats in the parliament, Vigen Hakobyan, a political technologists, is quoted by Novosti-Armenia as saying Monday while commenting on the results of the elections in Turkey.
According to the preliminary reports released after vote count, the Justice and Development Party headed by Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu won 40.8% of votes and 256 seats in the parliament, but despite this victory, the party lost its majority in the parliament.
The left-of-center Republican People’s Party won 25.5% of votes and 133 seats, the Nationalist Movement party (MHP) 16.5% and 83 seats and the pro-Kurdish alliance Peoples’ Democratic Party 12.9% and 78 respectively. The turnout was reported at 84%.
«The success of the pro-Kurdish party, which scored 13% of votes,» Hakobyan said. «I have already read the party leader's statement, where he said that the party's success was ensured also by support from Armenians. I think that from political point of view this party's success is more significant to Armenians than election of Armenian MPs.»
Three Armenians – journalists Markar Yesayan (from the ruling Justice and Development Party), Garo Palyan (from pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party) and lawyer Selina Ozuzun (from the opposition Republican People's Party) – were elected. ---0----
