YEREVAN, February 13. /ARKA/. The recent presidential statement is not a political pressure on the leader of Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukian, but a consequence of the current situation, vice speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Heghine Naghdalyan said on Thursday, as cited by Novosti-Armenia.
In his speech at the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) council meeting on Thursday the president said the leader of Prosperous Armenia party tycoon Gagik Tsarukian will be withdrawn from the national security council.
The president also said Tsarukian, as a political actor, is an evil for the country.
The reason for the statement was the political situation in the country, she said.
According to the vice-speaker, the presidential speech contained detailed analysis of the political field and the current status.
RPA faction deputy and head of the parliament commission on finance and budget Gagik Minasyan, in his turn, said Tsarukian’s blackmailing the authorities is unacceptable for national security reasons, and the president responded to it.
Speaking last Thursday at a conference of non-ruling parties initiated by his party Tsarukyan said that "with the help of a nationwide movement gaining strength with every passing day we will force the authorities to feel responsibility for the current situation and replace the current regime in the next elections ".
Another ruling party MP Margarit Yesayan stressed it has been time for such a response to Prosperous Armenia party since long ago. In fact, the party themselves have not made up their minds about whether they are pro-governmental or an opposition or something else, she said. President’s statement put an end to all these hesitations, she said.
Prosperous Armenia is the second largest force in the parliament controlling 36 seats. It was part of coalition governments from 2007 to 2012. Now it positions itself as an alternative political force. –0--
