YEREVAN, February 18. /ARKA/. Presidential contender Raffi Hovannisyan said on his Facebook page that the election campaign office of incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan makes use of additional electoral registers at the polling stations of the capital.

“We received information that the election campaign offices of Serzh Sargsyan, having realized it is impossible to use election bribes and other falsifications, take advantage of new methods now, particularly include hundreds of voters in additional lists at the capital polling stations”, says the report.

Hovannisyan’s Facebook page reports that voters included in the additional lists are not taken away from the main (permanent residency) electoral register, which creates a “legal” basis for a second ballot.

Hovannisyan’s election campaign office tries to establish and prevent such falsifications and urges voters and authorised reps of the candidates to display vigilance and prevent violations.

Presidential elections are being held in Armenia today. Seven nominees are running for the country’s president: incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, former prime minister and leader of Freedom party Hrant Bagratyan, former foreign minister and leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisyan, well-known Soviet dissident and leader of National Self-Determination party Paruyr Hayrikyan, ex foreign minister of Karabakh Arman Melikyan, political scientist and head of Radio Hay Andrias Ghukasyan and specialist in epic studies Vardan Sedrakyan. -0-
