Prosperous Armenia party to back Pashinyan’s candidacy for prime minister

The leader of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan, which has the second-largest faction in the parliament, told his team to support opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan as a candidate for the post of prime minister, ‘Hraparak’ daily said.

YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/ The leader of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan, which has the second-largest faction in the parliament, told his team to support opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan as a candidate for the post of prime minister, ‘Hraparak’ daily said.
"I am ready to help ensure that Nichol become prime minister. We should support the will of the people," Tsarukyan is quoted as saying.
Earlier, the secretary of the party’s parliamentary faction Vahe Enfiajyan said that its members joined the popular movement, but would not vote for Pashinyan. However, Tsarukyan expressed his dissatisfaction over this statement after learning about it.
After the resignation of ex-prime minister Serzh Sargsyan Tsarukyan and Pashinyan met at Yerevan hotel. They were said to have agreed on continuing negotiations.
A spokeswoman for the party, Iveta Tonoyan, said today that Gagik Tsarukyan will make a relating statement on April 28. -0-
