Prosperous Armenia to run for parliament in June 20 elections
YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. The opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) will run for parliament in the early parliamentary elections, scheduled to take place on June 20 under the electoral system, that will be determined by the parliamentary majority, MP Naira Zohrabyan said today.
She added that the party's list will be topped by BHK leader Gagik Tsarukyan.
"As for the choice of the electoral system, the authorities have already established the rules of the game. The government has a majority in parliament and, naturally, it can determine the electoral system by a majority of its votes. It is more important for us that these elections are free and fair, and administrative resources are not used," she noted.
According to her, the Prosperous Armenia Party has enough confidence to compete for parliament seats regardless of the electoral system
The early parliamentary elections in Armenia, scheduled to take place on June 20, will be held under the proportional system (by party lists), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier this week.
Pashinyan said the agreement on holding elections by party lists was achieved as a result of discussions between the President, the leaders of the parliament-represented opposition Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parties, the ruling My Step majority and extra-parliamentary forces. -0-
