Protocols on Kyrgyzstan accession to Eurasian Economic Union ratified by Armenian lawmakers

On Tuesday, the National Assembly of Armenia gave its approval to the protocols on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union dated from December 23, 2014, Novosti-Armenia reports.

YEREVAN, June 16. /ARKA/. On Tuesday, the National Assembly of Armenia gave its approval to the protocols on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union dated from December 23, 2014, Novosti-Armenia reports.  

«This document carries no additional obligations for Armenia, but gives it new opportunities instead,» said Suren Karayan, the first deputy minister of international economic integration and reforms Suren Karayan.

He said that before signing the accession agreement, the Eurasian Economic Union sent several delegations to Kyrgyzstan to see the country's readiness to join the union.  

Artak Zakaryan, head of the Armenian National Assembly's foreign relations committee, on his side, said that 6 million residents of Kyrgyzstan are joining now to the 170-million Eurasian Economic Union's market. 

«We welcome the Eurasian Economic Union's expansion and appearance of new opportunities for establishing new trade ties,» he said. «In particular, Armenia will get a chance to enter other Central Asia markets through Kyrgyzstan.»

Now the Eurasian Economic Union has four members – Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Kyrgyzstan will become a member of the union very soon. ---0----
