Putin submits treaty on Armenia’s accession to EEU to State Duma’s ratification

Russian State Duma (low chamber of parliament) may ratify the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) by the end of the outgoing year, Leonid Slutsky, the head of a State Duma committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, said today.

Russian State Duma (low chamber of parliament) may ratify the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) by the end of the outgoing year, Leonid Slutsky, the head of a State Duma committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, said today.
On Tuesday, Russian president Vladimir Putin submitted a draft law on the ratification of the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the EEU to the State Duma for ratification.
"We will consider the draft law as soon as possible. It is very likely the State Duma ratify the treaty by the end of December," Slutsky was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti news agency.
On October 10, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council gave its approval to Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. Along with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan Armenia will become a full member of the union that comes into force on January 1, 2015. -0-
