Prosperous Armenia political party will not put its reputation at risk for cooperating with the Armenian National Congress, Galust Sahakyan, the head of the Republican Party of Armenia that rules the country, said Thursday at a news conference.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the leader of the Armenian National Congress, opposition parties' bloc, and the first president of Armenia, said Saturday at a the bloc's session that Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia, would become someone in Armenia like Bidzina Ivanishvili in Georgia.
«The Prosperous Armenia is trying to win the status of a political alternative, and the National Congress' members think that things are favorable to them and that they can reap fruits from it if they act on the Prosperous Armenia’s side,» Sahakyan said.
He said Armenia needs a real opposition, but there are no such opposition parties now in the country.
Prosperous Armenia, a moderate centrist and liberal-leaning party, was established in April 2004.
The party has 36 of 131 seats in the National Assembly.
The Republican Party of Armenia has 69 members in the parliament, the Armenian National Congress seven members, Orinats Yerkir, Republican Party's fellow ruling coalition member six, Armenian Revolutionary Federation /Dashnaktsutiun and Heritage five each. --0---
