YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. The board and executive division of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia have not discussed the issue of Karen Karapetyan’s accession to it at their session held Thursday, Eduard Sharmazanov, the vice speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, told journalists after the session.
Armenian media resources reported on Thursday that Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, will join the party at the nearest session and will be one of its chairman’s deputies.
“Today this issue was not discussed, but when time comes, the prime minister will consider the matter with the president and will make his decision,” Sharmazanov said.
Asked if Karapetyan has applied to the party for membership, Sharmazanov said that it is not important, since the premier is a member of the Armenian Republicans’ team headed by Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian president and the party leader.
“Karen Karapetyan is a member of our team and we share the responsibility of the government,” he said.
On September 10, Serzh Sargsyan accepted the then prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s resignation and appointed Karen Karapetyan to this position. --0---
