YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. A resolution “About Russia’ military aggression against Ukraine” was adopted at the Euronest plenary session in Yerevan on Tuesday, Novosti-Armenia reported.

The resolution presented by the co-chair of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Boris Tarasyuk was passed by 38 votes, with 9 against and two abstained from the vote.

“Russia is waging a war against Ukraine that leads to casualties and suffering in Donbas. Over one and a half million had to flee their homes as a result of the military conflict, several hundred thousand became refugees. Russia has occupied and illegally annexed the Crimea” Tarasyuk said.

On March 16, the Crimea and Sevastopol observed the first anniversary of the referendum where 96.77% of the Crimea’s population voted for withdrawal from Ukraine and reunion with Russia.

“Every possible means should be used to facilitate Russia’s troop withdrawal from Ukraine and the establishing of peace,” Tarasyuk said.

The head of the Armenian delegation in Euronest Artak Zakaryan, in his turn, said the Ukrainian events have led to a dangerous situation, and all sides are interested in settling the conflict.

Zakaryan said there was no consensus among the Armenian delegation members on the resolution. Members of the delegation will vote based on their views, but exclusively peaceful settlement, based on Minsk agreement in particular is a priority, Zakaryan said.

The fourth plenary session of the Euronest parliamentary Assembly is held in Yerevan on March 17-18, 2015. The agenda includes four key reports on the European Neighborhood and the Eastern partnership policies for 2014-2020, as well as issues on communications, cultural dialogue, energy security and the renewable energy in particular. –0--
