YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. Russia will provide $5.8 million to Armenia as financial assistance to the center for analyses of food safety risks, the press office of the Armenian State Food Safety Agency reported on Thursday.

According to the press release, the arrangement of technical re-equipment of the center and financial assistance to it was made between Armenian and Russian governments as part of their membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Representatives of Rosselkhznadzor, Russia’s veterinary and phytosanitary supervision organization, have visited the center and gauged its potential.

Infectious diseases affecting animals, particularly foot-and-mouth disease, were discussed as well as part of their visit to Armenia.

In accordance with the arrangements made earlier, a new Russian vaccine against the disease will be provided to Armenia in March 2015. ---0----
