YEREVAN, April 19. /ARKA/.  The trilateral agreements between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh are the only real basis for settling the situation, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday in a conversation with journalists, TASS reported. Peskov added that their implementation is necessary.

"We are ready to welcome any steps by the sides that will ease the tension and will contribute to further progress on the path of implementing the trilateral agreements," Peskov said, commenting on the latest statements made by the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the trilateral agreements "are now the only realistic basis for a settlement." "That is why we regard the implementation of all their provisions as having no alternative and a necessity for everyone," he concluded.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament on April 18 that Armenia was ready to recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the borders of the former Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic.

"A peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is realistic if both countries clearly recognize each other's territorial integrity and undertake today and forever not to make territorial claims against each other," Pashinyan said.

‘I want to reiterate that Armenia fully recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and expects it to recognize the territory of the Armenian Soviet republic as Armenian territory," he said.

Pashinyan said Azerbaijan's claims that Armenia refused to recognize its territorial integrity are untrue. Pashinyan also spoke about the need for establishment of an international mechanism to facilitate dialogue between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan to ensure the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said earlier this week that "Armenians living in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh must make a choice - either to become Azerbaijani citizenship or look for another place to live’. -0-
