Sargsyan: Armenia committed to further consolidation of Commonwealth of Independent States
YEREVAN, October 10. /ARKA/. Armenia is committed to further consolidation of the Commonwealth of Independent States and to development of cooperation among the CIS member countries, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said Friday at the CIS summit in Minsk, the presidential press office reports.

“We attach great importance to cooperation with military, law enforcement and border agencies,” he said. “And our top-priority areas for cooperation are drug trafficking and illegal migration prevention as well as financial intelligence. Appropriate agencies of sectoral cooperation have plenty to do to solve particular problems and produce visible results. Armenia held about dozen CIS sessions this year with this very mood.”

Sargsyan reminded the summit participants of a decision to announce Russia’s Voronezh and Tajikistan’s Kulob cities cultural capitals of the Commonwealth in 2015, the Year of Eduction, saying that this decision will foster ties in the common humanitarian space, develop contacts in culture, science and education areas and intensify exchange of tourists.

“These projects are absolutely in tune with our policy aimed at improvement of education and creation of science-intensive economy in Armenia,” he said. “These sectors are announced our country’s high priorities. The first in the CIS territory boarding school of the United World Colleges network will be opened in a few days in Armenia’s Dilijan. Some 96 teenagers from 50 countries, including 14 CIS countries, came to Armenia for studying at this school.”

He said that Kazakhstan that assumes CIS chairmanship in January will do much in 2015, and Armenia is willing to help Kazakh colleagues in solving common problems. --0----
